The latest Ministry of Justice privacy injunction statistics show that the low rate of applications has continued in 2021. In the first six months of the year there were 3 privacy injunction applications (compared to 10 in 2020).
All 3 applications were successful and were dealt with at private hearings. In 2 of the cases the parties were anonymised. In addition, 2 permanent private injunctions were granted.
The following judgments relate to privacy injunctions granted during the period in question
- COS v PER & Anor [2021] EWHC 475 (QB) (03 March 2021)
- BHX v GRX & Anor [2021] EWHC 770 (QB) (29 March 2021)
- GUH v KYT [2021] EWHC 1854 (QB) (05 July 2021) (the initial injunction was granted on 24 June 2021)

The total number of new issued privacy cases in the Media and Communications List remains low. In the first 6 months of 2021, there were 382 new issued cases in this list. Only 14 of these (or 4%) were for misuse of private information or breach of privacy.
