The case of Richard Burgon MP v. News Group Newspapers Limited and Thomas Newton Dunn ([2019] EWHC 195 (QB)) was a libel claim relating to an online article published by The Sun, which made allegations that the MP for Leeds East and Shadow Justice Secretary had joined a band that delighted in Nazi symbols. 21 04 2017Kelvin MacKenzie has been suspended as a Sun columnist for an opinion piece in which he referred to Everton footballer Ross Barkley – who has a Nigerian grandfather – as a “gorilla”. MacKenzie also used the column to imply that the only wealthy people in Liverpool – other than footballers – are drug dealers.

Five reasons why Ed Miliband’s flirtation with the Sun was a disaster – Des Freedman
18 06 2014Ed Miliband’s decision to pose with a copy of the Sun’s World Cup special that was delivered to households across the country is outrageous on so many levels.
First, it is smacks of desperation. Miliband claimed he was showing support for the team and not the newspaper but who will believe him?
