In a Statement in Open Court [pdf] read out on Friday 3 May 2013, the Metropolitan Police admitted they had failed to take adequate steps to remove posters suggesting that Leslie Austin, a Hackney resident, was involved in the Hackney riots. The posters continued to be published for some months after officers accepted his role during the riots was as a “Good Samaritan” and “a model citizen”.
