There will be a symposium entitled “The Future of SLAPPs Research,” at the London School of Economics (LSE) on 12 June 2025. This event, organised by the SLAPPs Research Group, is generously supported by the LSE Law School and the Faculty of Law at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand.

The symposium will explore the current trends and challenges in scholarly research on the misuse of civil proceedings to silence public debate. Esteemed scholars, Professors Andrew Kenyon (University of Melbourne, Australia), Justin Borg-Barthet (University of Aberdeen), and Hilary Young (University of New Brunswick, Canada), will deliver keynote addresses on this theme.

The highlight of the symposium will be a roundtable discussion featuring leading experts in the field. The event will be held in the Box Conference Room, 5th Floor, Tower 3, Clements Inn, Strand, London.

Further details and a comprehensive programme will be provided in due course. A limited number of spaces are available at the roundtable. If you have an interest in academic research on SLAPPs and would like to participate, please contact Dr Mark Hanna at mark.hanna@canterbury.ac.nz, Dr Pete Coe at p.j.coe@bham.ac.uk, Rebecca Moosavian at r.z.moosavian@leeds.ac.uk or Dr Andrew Scott at a.d.scott@lse.ac.uk. We are particularly keen to include PhD and post-graduate researchers.

Additionally, a number of spaces are available for stakeholders or others who may wish to attend in an observatory capacity. Please contact Mark, Pete, Rebecca, or Andrew for more information.
