Event: “Fix the Press, Demand a better media” – Hacked Off Rally, 24 June

Britain deserves a better press, with standards that put the public first. Phone hacking, lies and the abuse of ordinary people. Disinformation on critical public issues, from climate change to immigration. Harassment and bullying of the bereaved and victims of crime.

Britain’s press is broken. But we have a generational opportunity to fix it — and end more than a century of failure and abuse.

Hacked Off is staging a rally at Central Hall Westminster on 24 June 2026, 3pm to 5pm, Free tickets can be obtained from Eventbrite, here.

Featuring appearances by Tulisa (X-factor/N-dubz), launching her campaign surrounding press reform, Hacked Off Board Director Jacqui Hames; and fellow victims of press misconduct and civil society leaders. Further speakers to be confirmed.

In 2024 Tulisa spoke out about her life being destroyed after being targeted by the Sun on Sunday’s notorious “Fake Sheikh”.  The drugs trial against her collapsed and the Fake Sheikh was subsequently convicted of conspiring to pervert the course of justice.  The full story is told in a recent book, Rogue: The Rise and Fall of Mazher “Fake Sheikh” Mahmood — by Roy Greenslade with Paddy French, which can be purchased here .  Inforrm had a post about the book here: Was News International’s “Fake Sheik” a career criminal? – Paddy French.

The Hacked Off Campaign was established in 2011 in response to the phone-hacking revelations and campaigns for a free and accountable press for the public.
