Hacked Off: Leveson Part 2, Refuting the Myths about the Inquiry

As part of a campaign in favour of the commencement of the promised Part 2 of the Leveson Inquiry into the “Culture, Practices and Ethics of the Press” Hacked Off has published a document [pdf] refuting a number of the myths that have been promoted in the press concerning this Inquiry.

The document deals with eight “myths” as follows:

MYTH: Enough time and money has been spent on Leveson already; the time and money and strain on judicial resources isn’t worth it

MYTH: Hardly any journalists were found guilty so there’s nothing left to investigate

MYTH: Leveson 2 just wants to re-run the trials

MYTH: There’s nothing left to investigate and it’s unlikely to make any new recommendations

MYTH: Phone-hacking is a historic problem

MYTH: IPSO has made progress since Leveson 1

MYTH: Leveson Part 2 is not supported by the public

MYTH: Sir Brian Leveson doesn’t want Part 2 of the Inquiry anyway
