The final report of the Commons Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee on Disinformation and Fake News [pdf] was published on 18 February 2019. It is the product of an 18 month process – far in excess of the normal timeframe for Select Committee inquiries, involving 170 written submissions and 73 oral witnesses. Steve Morgan C.B.E. is an impressive individual. As a young man in the 1970s working for Wellington Civil Engineering, a business that was going to the wall, he borrowed £5,000 and took over one of Wellington’s contracts to put sewers in in Penley, near Wrexham.
