Internet-based services such as Facebook and Twitter can confer major advantages on users in terms of access to information, ease of communication, and opportunities for network-building. But the ordinary concomitant is a significant surrender of personal privacy.  Participation generally entails the disclosure of, and the ceding of control over, one’s personal data. 6th Birthday badge redThe Inforrm Blog is six years old today.  Our first post was on 22 January 2010, in the heady days of the great libel reform debate.  We began with 7 page views and one post in the first month.  Now, six years later, we have had a total of nearly 3,400 posts and 3.2 million page views.
