Queen's CounselThe list of new appointments [xls] as Queen’s Counsel was published today by the Ministry of Justice.  There are 107 names of barristers and solicitors on the list and 8 honorary Queen’s Counsel appointed in recognition of their major contributions to the law.

There are three QC appointments of particular interest to media and information lawyers (in descending order of seniority):

  • Catrin Evans, of 1 Brick Court – who was called to the Bar in 1994 and whose expertise includes defamation, privacy and freedom of expression.
  • Anya Proops, of 11 KBW – who was called to the Bar in 1998 and who specialises in information law and is a co-founder and editor of the Panopticon blog.
  • Guy Vassall-Adams, of Matrix Chambers – who was called to the Bar in 2000 and is a leading practitioner in media and information law.

In addition, the list of honorary silks includes the noted legal journalist, Joshua Rozenberg – the author of Privacy and the Press (OUP, 2004)
